Segmental Wall at Middleton, Cork (2017)

A segmental block facing was to be affixed to a freshly exposed sandstone rock face within the rear gardens of a number of properties within a residential development in Cork. A number of soft spots were observed in the rock face after the temporary excavation. After the pins were installed, pullout tests were undertaken on a sample of the pins to prove that the design pullout resistances were being met, despite the inconsistency in strengths within the retained rock.
